We have been getting rescue hens for some years now and they are proving popular with visitors, especially children. The ‘girls’ are free to roam over all 3 acres and it doesn’t take them long to find their feet. Finding the eggs can be a problem but some of the girls are compliant and lay eggs in the nest boxesFeel free to throw them any scraps-they like cooked rice but turn their beaks up at pasta! If children wish to feed them with corn, just ask for a bag. Here is one of our new arrivals, who has spent her life in a cage so far. She’s just beginning to find out the delights of running about on grass and eating it!
An old girl looks on and thinks didI really look like that?
